Oct 21, 2013– Boa Viagem (Recife), BRAZIL

Oi família! K this is going to have to be super short.
Did I mention we have to pay to use the internet as we are timed 😦 not fun.
Really quick Transfers are today but sister Massagardi and I are staying here in BoaViagem for another 6 weeks. She will probably leave after and I will train or at least take over the área here for 1 or 2 more transfers so basically I’m probably going to be here until february talvez. That’s my guess anyways.
Sad News. Samuel is not getting baptized because he moved out of our área to go live with his dad? I dont know any other details….random but those are investigators for you. Sometimes things are so unpredictable and yet as missionaries we just have to roll with it. I am pretty bummed about that. But… let us all press on in the work of the Lord right? 🙂
We’re putting Camilla on date for baptism tonight and asking Lindalva to prepare for baptism too hopefully. AH scary. It’s hard teaching 2 diferente investigators at once if they’re not in a Family (friends) because they each have diferente needs but thats why the spirit is so IMPORTANT when you teach. The spirit is what helps us to now the needs and testify/change the hearts of these people…we are simply the catalysts to help.
Also Elias’1s divorce is finalized! And he came to church sunday and watched a baptism the other sisters had after church (remember we share a Ward with another companionship). Awesome! He is progressing but still seems to have some spiritual road blocks with his Faith. He really wants to be with Grazinha (his girlfriend-member) for eternity and he knows that the gospel comes first in her life. So I guess that’s why he’s been taking the missionary lessons but the last few times we have visited with him Sister Massagardi said little by little he is wanting to learn about the gospel for himself not just for Grazinha. So that’s good! We’re going to talk about developing Faith and how the book of Mormon can help us do so. He doesn’t believe in the bible or the book of Mormon yet….He had some rough experiences growing up with another Faith so again, he doesn’t really trust God and he used to not believe in God. Sad. But he is progressing so I’ll keep you posted. 🙂 I love him so much and have high hopes for him!
OKay to finish! Nos tivemos um milagre esta semana! (we had a miracle this week)!
On friday we were walking down the street after studies and it had been sort of a slow morning. I was feeling discouraged about the work and I had been praying in my heart that we would be able to teach people that day. As we continue to walk I noticed a little shiny thing on the ground realizing it was a coin purse. When I stopped to pick it up and opened it seeing no one else was around  I found it had money, credit cards and a drivers license all inside. No one else was around so we figured someone had dropped this and clearly had to be looking for it. Long story short- We spent all day trying to find the owner. After SEVERAL phone calls,a ton of walking (we didnt stop to sit for over 3-4 hours) talking with diferente people, we finally got in contact, met up with the woman at our chapel and were able to return the wallet to her. She was SO grateful and as we began talking with her she was very open to knowing more about who we were. We ended up giving her a tour of our chapel (she lives close by!) and gave her a BOM and prayed with her. She was in tears at the end of the prayer (we were sitting in the chapel alone) and said she felt so good. The spirit was so Strong and she said she had never felt this way with any other churches she’d been to before. We are going to start teaching her Family-yes A FAMILY!!!! this week hopefully. She said they’re moving soon though to Setúbal (out of our área) so we’re really hoping we can teach and baptize their whole Family together! Her and her husband have 2 kids. Her name is Maria Paula! TOTAL MIRACLE! what if I had not seen that wallet??? It’s so cool how the Lord Works. This work is true and it is His. I remember the moments and experiences like this and I am reminded of how importante it is to follow the spirit.
Love you all.
Love your sweaty-americana-missionaria!
